Last Monday Clear Choice Lawn Care and Crosswind BBQ helped thank area first responders and veterans by sponsoring a free lunch at The American Legion Post 83 in Macclenny.
Joseph Rodriguez of Clear Choice said he invited his friend Adam Ferrell, who owns the BBQ food truck with wife Melissa and brother Brian, who won the Clerk of Courts Stacie Harvey-sponsored Best in Baker barbecue cook-off in May, only its second year competing, to the post headquarters on South Lowder Street Monday at 11 a.m. to feed law enforcement, firefighters and emergency medical personnel, who packed the parking lot and either dined inside the post building or took their meals to-go.
Rodriguez said it was a way of giving back to an important segment of the community, the men and women who respond to emergencies across the county, including fires, vehicle crashes, altercations, falls and medical emergencies.
“We just appreciate all those out there and what they’ve been through. It’s hard to afford much these days on their salaries,” said Rodriguez of Macclenny.
