Meet our fearless leader, publisher, and doer of all the things: Jessica Prevatt!
Jessica was born and raised (for the most part) in Baker County. Her father was in the Navy, so she moved to a few different places during her younger years.
She returned to Baker County in time to start Kindergarten and graduated with honors from Baker County High School in 1996. Jessica started with the newspaper in January 1998 as a part-time graphic designer and office help. Over the years the job merged into full time and over the last 27 years has been involved in all aspects of our community newspaper publishing from circulation to advertising sales, paper delivery to photography, and everything in between.
During those last 27 years, she married Jamie Prevatt and they have two sons, Landon and Jamie Lee.
"Community news was not my career path, but I am so grateful to former owner Jim McGauley for giving me the job offer and former teacher Debbie Charko for the recommendation to him when he was looking for someone. Baker County is my home and has been for several generations of my family. I am proud to continue the tradition of recording the history of our county."

Meet our editor-in-chief, master of words, and story chaser: Joel Addington!
Joel joined “The Press” in 2008 as a government reporter and now serves as managing editor covering general news while overseeing our team of reporters and photographers.
A native of DeLand, FL in Volusia County, he graduated from DeLand High School in 1998 and then UCF in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in print journalism. He went on to join newspapers in New Symrna Beach and then Daytona Beach on the coast of Volusia County. In 2007, Joel relocated to Jacksonville to join the “The Daily Record” and then “The Press” about a year later. He enjoys jogging and doing most anything outdoors.

Meet staff reporter, social media manager, sales coordinator, and doer of random tasks: Elizabeth Lucas!
Elizabeth graduated from BCHS in 2008, received her A.A. from FSCJ, and Bachelors in English from UCF. Elizabeth has worked as a freelance copywriter since 2018 and has been a freelance contributor for The Press in the past.
After gaining some experience in the marketing world as a lead copywriter for a digital marketing agency, Elizabeth left the fast-paced career and came to work with the Press team in August 2024.
A mom of two girls, she has a passion for writing, reading, and snacks. In many cases, she's the woman behind the curtain of our social media pages and learning the ropes of advertising. She has a passion for local businesses and seeing them thrive.
Fun fact: If she could do anything, it would be to own a cozy bookstore with a sleepy cat, cups of tea or coffee, and plenty of time to write a fantasy novel. "Maybe one day!"

Meet Camille, our office manager, handler of accounts, wrangler of paperwork, and all-around fantastic lady.
Camille grew up in Sanford, FL where she met and married her husband, Shane. They have two incredibly talented daughters, both working in publishing in different ways.
Camille and her family moved to Macclenny in 2012 from Volusia County and quickly fell in love with Baker County, its emphasis on family values, and its traditions.
She started at The Press in 2017, and the best part of her job she says is the people. She shared, "I work with some great people, and the customers are awesome.
Whether it's the customers placing an ad, renewing a subscription or walking in to buy a paper, I love hearing about their day, their families, their challenges, and triumphs. When my regulars don't come in one week, I'm wondering if they're okay! I feel blessed to be a part of The Press and Baker County families."

A long-time fan of sports, Richie loves the idea of writing for his community and highlighting the many updates and wins from our local athletes.
A current teacher at Baker County Middle School, Richie loves his community and considers it an honor to report on the stories that come with it.
When not writing and teaching, you can find Richie rooting on his favorite college and pro teams: the Jacksonville Jaguars and Florida Gators.
