She was born on July 4, 1937 in Clay Hill to Henry and Alice Mosley and was married for 60 years to her beloved husband Howard Padgett prior to his death in 2013. She was a column editor of the Clay Hill area for the Bradford County Telegraph newspaper in the 1960s, and a Clay County bus driver for 32 years. Mrs. Padgett was a charter member of Clay Hill Baptist Church, the Sunday School church secretary, an active member of the Women’s Missionary Union, active in Ol’ Faithfuls Group and a tremendous sponsor of the church youth. She volunteered at the Olde Farm Inc., distributing food for Clay County residents in need. She was an avid donor to the Florida Sheriffs Boys Ranch and an active member of the Red Hat Society. Her favorite hobbies were bowling and fishing. She was known as Nanny to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband and youngest son Darrell Padgett.
Mrs. Padgett is survived by her son Terrell (Donna) Padgett, daughter-in-law Patricia Padgett, grandchildren Dana (Tony) Lucas, Shane (Amanda) Padgett, Zeb Padgett and Rindi (Billy) Weaver and four great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life was held November 2 at her church with Pastor Rick Crews officiating. Interment followed at Long Branch Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Giddens-Reed Funeral Home, Baldwin.
