Wildcats blowout Wolfson 42-6

Quarterback Jacob Carter accounted for three touchdowns–one rushing and two passing–on October 3 as the Wildcats rolled through Wolfson 42-6 to pick up their first District 3-5A victory of the season.

The Cats scored 36 of their 42 points in the first half and didn’t allow the Wolfpack to find the end zone until late in the third quarter. The team jumped out to an early lead following Jarvis Desue’s 2-yard touchdown run on its opening drive. The defense got in on the action on Wolfson’s ensuing drive as Mondrell Jefferson returned an interception 75-yards to pay dirt. Carter’s 15-yard scoring run capped off the squad’s 20-point first quarter.

Baker County added two more touchdowns in the second quarter with Eugene Farmer’s 28-yard reception and Jacob Stalvey’s short run.

Reggie Givens’ 10-yard third-quarter touchdown reception gave the team a 42-0 lead.

The Wildcats will try to build on the momentum October 10 at Paxon.

Cats fall 46-26 at Ed White

The Wildcats didn’t get the performance they were looking for August 22 in the Kickoff Classic as they fell 46-26 at Ed White.

Baker County got off to a slow start to the game on both sides of the ball as the Commanders took a quick 21-0 lead in the first quarter. The Cats tried to rally back after Vic Givens scored on a 40-yard catch-and-run from quarterback Jacob Carter that breathed life back into the team. But three first-half turnovers and a failed fourth-down conversion deep in Ed White territory derailed the momentum they were building.

The second half was back and forth with coach Tom MacPherson working in the back-ups and junior varsity players. JV player Eugene Farmer had a pair of interceptions in the second half to lead the defense.

The Wildcats will kickoff the regular season next Friday at home against St. Augustine.
