Wildcats blowout Bradford 43-7

Head coach Tom MacPherson picked up his first win as Wildcat head coach September 5 as the team rolled through hosting Bradford County Tornadoes 43-7 to improve to 1-1 on the season..

Baker County’s offense had a monster night as Jacob Carter, Vic Givens and Jarvis Desue combined for four touchdowns on the ground. Givens ran for almost 50 yards and added two rushing touchdowns, while Desue had one of his own.

Carter also found receiver Zach Rafuse on a perfect 28-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter.

The defense was dominant most of the night and shut down Bradford’s offense. CeCe Jefferson rebounded from Week 1′s quiet game with as a forced a fumble and made first contact on a gang sack. Cats fall 46-26 at Ed White

The Wildcats didn’t get the performance they were looking for August 22 in the Kickoff Classic as they fell 46-26 at Ed White.

Baker County got off to a slow start to the game on both sides of the ball as the Commanders took a quick 21-0 lead in the first quarter. The Cats tried to rally back after Vic Givens scored on a 40-yard catch-and-run from quarterback Jacob Carter that breathed life back into the team. But three first-half turnovers and a failed fourth-down conversion deep in Ed White territory derailed the momentum they were building.

The second half was back and forth with coach Tom MacPherson working in the back-ups and junior varsity players. JV player Eugene Farmer had a pair of interceptions in the second half to lead the defense.

The Wildcats will kickoff the regular season next Friday at home against St. Augustine.

Wildcats fall to Crusaders 38-20

The BCHS Wildcats’ district championship and playoff hopes were dashed by a 38-20 road loss at Bishop Kenny November 1 to close out the 2013 season.

Mistakes plagued the Wildcats throughout the night as freshman quarterback Joe Green threw three interception–including two returned for touchdowns–and the team committed 12 penalties.

The team wouldn’t go down without a fight and played hard all game long. Mike Boone closed out his high school career with another great game as he hauled in his first interception of the year and added a 73-yard touchdown reception.

The Wildcats scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit. Green found Anthony James on a 50-yard catch-and-run for a score, and running back Dalton Dyal forced his way into the end zone on a 3-yard run.

With the loss, Baker County ended its 2013 season with a 7-3 overall and 5-2 in District 3-5A.
