The Baker County Code Enforcement Board levied unusually stiff penalties on two property owners who steadfastly refused to correct violations in recent months.
A convicted felon who already has served time in prison and twice violated probation was sentenced in circuit court on May 6 to 40 months in prison.
County commissioners have tentatively selected contractors to do the site preparation work and construct a new Baker County Council on Aging transportation center in Macclenny. But the federally-funded project will not move forward, officials said last week, unless it can be accomplished within budget.
That may not be easy.
