Drug arrests after I-10 stop

Deputies arrested two Middleburg residents on multiple drug charges the afternoon of November 7 after a K-9 unit sniffed out the illegal substances.
Investigators Matthew Yarborough and Michael Hauge pulled over a 2003 Ford Taurus after the vehicle swerved into the emergency lane and then back into the travel lane on Interstate 10. Aaron Wilder, 23, was the driver and Allison Martin, 28, a rear passenger. The car also contained a front seat passenger, 35-year-old Christopher Padgett of Jacksonville.
Inv. Hauge asked Mr. Wilder and Ms. Martin to exit the vehicle after they both appeared nervous, and they gave conflicting statements on several matters. Pair sought to steal LeapPads

Police arrested a Lake City woman for felony shoplifting at the Macclenny Walmart the morning of November 7, and filed a similar charge against a second woman who was her accomplice but fled when challenged by a store security worker.
The employee told Deputy Jeremiah Johnson he observed Kimberly Henderson, 26, and Brittany Reese, 21, also of Lake City attempt to leave the store about 11:30 am after placing five LeapPad electronic learning tablets into a cart. They also took two LeapPad covers and headphones. Value of the merchandise was $530.
Police were told that Ms. Reese broke free and ran to a vehicle in the parking lot, and she was named in the complaint for felony theft and resisting a merchant. Read More »

Girlfriend pulls knives

A criminal complaint for aggravated domestic battery was filed early on November 5 against the pregnant girlfriend of an Olustee man who said she attacked him while he was laying in bed late the previous evening, then twice came at him with knives.
Deputy Chris Walker said Tommy Rollins, 59, made the accusations against Meikisha Booker, 19, of Jacksonville, who was later found and questioned at the Fastway Store on US 90 to the east of their residence on Michael Cason Rd.
Ms. Booker told the officer Mr. Rollins became angry over her looking on Facebook, and that she pulled a knife on him only after he brandished a pistol. Mr. Rollins denied that, insisting he twice had to wrestle knives away from the girlfriend during the altercation that ended when she cut her foot kicking a lamp on a bedroom dresser. Read More »

Circuit court sentencings

A number of defendants were sentenced during relatively light docket sessions in circuit court on November 5 and October 29.
• Jerry Wilkerson pleaded no contest to trafficking in stolen property and a similar charge was dropped before Judge Mark Moseley sentenced him to six months in county jail less time served.
• A similar term was ordered for Winchee Coleman after he admitted to violating probation from two 2011 cases of burglary and criminal mischief. Read More »
