Barbara Rowe, 76, dies May 26

Barbara Levon Rowe, 76, of Macclenny died May 26, 2011 at her residence. She was born in Foley, Florida on December 17, 1934 to Lawrence A. Parker and Lillian Callihan Parker. Barbara had been a resident of Macclenny for 25 years after moving from Bostwick. She attended the Christian Fellowship Temple and enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and spending time with her family. Barbara was preceded in death by husband Jack Rowe; sisters Joan Jenkins and Jean Starling; grandson Kevin Lamar Drew.

Survivors include children Paul (Jeanna) Drew of Macclenny and Elaine (Joseph) Lipka of Belmont, NC; brother Wuggy (Christine) Parker of Jacksonville; sister Mary (Sherman) Drawdy of Macclenny; six grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Edna Wilson, 77, nursing supervisor

Edna Dell Wilson (nee Gay), died May 25, 2011. She was born January 28, 1934 in Folkston, Georgia. Edna grew up primarily in Jacksonville and attended the school of nursing at Emory University in Atlanta. She married David S. Wilson in 1956 and had three children: Susan, Cynthia, and Scott.

In the course of a distingu-ished career, she served as a head nurse, nursing educator, and administrator at many prominent institutions including St. Vincent’s in Jacksonville. She finished her career at Northeast Florida State Hospital in Macclenny, where she was a nursing administrator for 13 years. Well loved and respected by the scores of nurses who studied under and worked for her, she spent her later years in Keystone Heights.

Robert Barton, 62, DOC retiree

Robert Rondal Barton, 62, of Macclenny died Wednesday, May 25, 2011 in Lake City following an extended illness. He was born and resided in Macclenny all his life.

Mr. Barton was a former correctional officer at Florida State Prison until his retirement. He was a member of the Olustee Baptist Church, an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of Masonic Lodge #122 of Sanderson, a member of the Macclenny Moose Lodge, the American Legion and the VFW. He was preceded in death by son Robert R. Barton Jr. and his father T.J. Barton.
