Out $1160 applying for ‘loan’

A Macclenny woman was apparently bilked out of $1160 in a phony loan application process over the telephone with an entity in California.

The woman, 46, called police on July 30 after the loan company that she had been in contact with over a $4800 loan application reneged on three promises to transfer the money after she sent funds out via a pre-paid card.

Broke windshield of vehicle with wife and children inside

A Macclenny man was arrested for felony aggravated domestic battery on his wife after he repeatedly struck the windshield of a vehicle she occupied along with their two children the night of July 29.

Sanderson man arrested for Maine van theft

A Sanderson man was arrested on August 3 for stealing a vehicle in Maine two days earlier and driving it to Baker County with an acquaintance.

A posting on Facebook read by the owner of the 1999 Dodge van, Simone Churchhill, prompted her to contact the sheriff’s department that William Rigdon, 26, had taken it to a relative’s residence on O.C. Horne Rd.
