Superintendent Sherrie Raulerson said Mr. Davis, formerly the assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, approached her about filling the vacancy left by Jamie Johnson, who took the job last summer only to abruptly resign from it citing personal reasons in mid-September.

“He’s a good leader and has had success in the past at the middle school and the district level,” said the superintendent, who announced the news to Keller faculty and staff on September 29 to a round of applause.

She said the assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction position will remain vacant and other district personnel will pick up those responsibilities as needed.

“We’ll just have to work overtime,” said Mrs. Raulerson, adding that it will be challenging, “but I felt like Keller needed him.”

The superintendent described Mr. Davis as someone who is well known and trusted by Keller’s faculty and that he leads by example.

Mr. Davis has been an assistant superintendent since 2010. Before that he served as the middle school’s principal for seven years and an assistant principal and dean at the school for the seven years prior.

He joined the district in 1987 as a teacher’s aide before becoming a middle school teacher two years later.

Mr. Davis holds a bachelor’s degree in business management and finance from Brigham Young University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Florida A&M.
