Richard Lyons, 81, of Jacksonville

Richard E. Lyons, 81, died February 24, 2013 in Jacksonville from complications of congestive heart failure. He was a graphic designer and best known for the logo he designed for the Miami Heat. He was also a fine artist.

Mr. Lyons was born in Lochloosa, Florida on October 31, 1931 to Augusta and Ervin Lyons. He graduated from Pierson High School in 1949. He and his twin brother Bill served in the U.S. Navy 1951-1955. Richard lived most of his life in Jacksonville and Atlanta.

He is survived by his brother William (Dixie) and his sister Bonnie Lyons, all of Macclenny; nieces Sharon Y. (Robert) Cobb of Jacksonville, Pat Cobb of St. George, GA and Terri (David) Hair of Glen St. Mary.

A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on March 3, at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 729 S. Edgewood Ave., Jacksonville, FL.

Infant Meyer rites Thursday

Infant Liam Jace Meyer of Glen St. Mary died on February 24, 2013 at Shands at the University of Florida with family by his side. He was born in Jacksonville on November 29, 2012 to Jason Meyer and Lindsey Burnham Meyer. Liam was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandmother Bulah Mae Burnham and paternal grandmother Ginger Meyer.

Liam is survived by his loving parents; maternal grandparents Horace (Lorie) Burnham of Glen St. Mary; paternal grandfather James Nicholas Meyer of Henderson, NV; maternal great-grandfather Horace Burnham Sr.; maternal great-grandparents Buck (Nancy) Armentrout of Macclenny; paternal great-grandmother June Spencer of Newell, SD; aunts and uncles Trent (Brandy) Burnham, Mandy (Mark) Carpenter, and Amy Rodriguez.

A private funeral service will be held Thursday, February 28 at V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services chapel with Pastor David Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Ella Mosley, 92, funeral Feb. 23rd

Ella Cinda Mosley, 92, of Baldwin died Wednesday, February 20 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Jacksonville following a long illness. She was a native of Hoboken, GA and resided in Lake Butler before moving to Baldwin 70 years ago. She retired as a claims specialist at Blue Cross-Blue Shield after 25 years of service. Mrs. Mosley  attended the Northside Baptist Church of Jacksonville and was an avid reader in her spare time.

She was preceded in death by  parents Lonnie and Odessa Courson Crews, her late husband Wesley James Mosley Sr. and granddaughter Robin Amanda Mosley Jeffers. She is survived by  daughter Margaret Mosley (Charles) Moore of Lafayette, LA; sons Harold Robert (Nancy) Mosley of Sunset, LA and Wesley James (Lora) Mosley Jr. of Baldwin; sisters Vivian (John) Whitehead and Margaret (Marvin) Pritchett, both of Lake Butler; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren.

Tommy Ross, 37, dies in Kentucky

Thomas “Tommy” Charles Ross II, 37, of Campbellsville, KY died on February 21, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Charleston, WV on March 5, 1975 to Thomas Charles Ross and Valerie Jo Tilson Markos. Thomas married his high school sweetheart Melissa on December 2, 1995. He enjoyed go karting, fishing with his brothers and father and collecting action movies. Mr. Ross was an avid gamer. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Georgia Tilson; paternal grandfather Honus Ross; brother Adam James Ross

Thomas is survived by his wife  and his son Tyler of Campbellsville; his mother of Lake Butler; father Tom (Susan) Ross of Middleburg; brothers Sean and Phillip Ross of Middleburg; maternal grandfather Charles Tilson of Macclenny; paternal grandmother Rose Ross of Rainelle, WV; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A graveside funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 27 at 11 am at Woodlawn Cemetery with Pastor Todd Jones officiating. Ferreira Funeral Services of Macclenny was in charge of arrangements.
