June Brown, 69, dies October 11

June Brown, 68, of Macclenny died October 11, 2011.

She was born in Jacksonville to the late Junior Lee Burnsed and Roasnell Rhoden Burnsed on May 28, 1943. She was a resident of Baker County since 1971 after moving from Bryceville, and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. June was a loving wife, mother and sister. She loved spending time with her family and was an avid sports fan. She loved watching her son play sports and loved the Atlanta Braves. She enjoyed bowling, and baking cakes.

Survivors include her loving husband of 49 years William Brown of Macclenny; son Michael Brown of Fernandina Beach; daughter Kelly (Roland) Alford of Macclenny; sisters Nell Collins of Bryceville, Melva (Lanier) Maddox of Daytona Beach, and Robbie (Mike) Parrish of St. Augustine; grandchildren Jessica, Devin and Kasey Alford, all of Macclenny.

The funeral service was held Friday, October 14 at 11:00 am at her church with Pastor Mike Ramondetta officiating. Interment followed at Oak Grove Cemetery in Macclenny. V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.

Maybel Harrison, 89, of Lake City

Mabel Thomas Harrison, 89, of Lake City died Friday, October 7 at the Health Center in Lake City following a long illness.

She was born in Lulu, Florida and resided in Lake City for the past 70 years. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church of Lake City. She enjoyed watching Columbia High School football and the Florida Gators; she loved to cook and enjoyed her home on the Santa Fe River. She was preceded in death by her parents Bryant L. and Athie Williams Thomas; husband Bill Charles Harrison and son Charlie B. Harrison.

Survivors include sons Bobby (Karen) Harrison of Glen St. Mary and Donnie (Lynn) Harrison of Lake City; grandchildren Greg (Mckenzie) Harrison, Dillon (Kim) Harrison, Chris (Dawn) Brunner, Stacy Harrison and Jason Harrison; great-grandchildren Max Harrison, Rex Harrison, Kate Harrison and Harrison Brunner.

The funeral service was held Monday, October 10 at 11 am in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Isadore Williams officiating. Interment followed at Memorial Cemetery, Lake City. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at 1831 NW 13th St., Gainesville, Fl 31707.

George Bell, 79, of St. George dies

George Edward Bell, 79, of St. George, GA died October 11, 2011 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Jacksonville.

He was born August 21, 1932 in St. George to Ernest and Pauline Tanner Bell. Mr. Bell was a lifelong resident of St. George and was self-employed raising chickens for Gold Kist for over 20 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and a member of First Baptist Church of St. George. He was preceded in death by son Eddie Bell; daughter Paula Bell; his parents; sisters Irma Hudson and Iva Williams; brothers Ernest Avery Bell and W.D. Bell.

Survivors include wife Barbara Bell; daughter Sharon (E.L.) Padgett; sister Eloise (Allen) Dorman; step-son Woody (Samanthia) Manuel; step-daughters Brenda (Jeff) Skeels, Christie (Jack) Madray, Darlene (Jeff) Doggett; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Pallbearers were:  Chad  Padgett, Brad Padgett, Joel Padgett, Jeffery Skeels, Matthew Skeels, J.D. Madray, Shane Madray and Trae Harrington. George had many special people in his life, and he loved them.

The funeral service was held Friday, October 14 at his church with Rev. James Conner officiating. Burial followed at Conner-Green Cemetery. Shepard Funeral Home of Folkston was in charge of arrangements.
