Threatens to set his house afire

A Sanderson man was arrested early on June 5 for allegedly threatening to burn down his house and torch a camper belonging to his brother-in-law nearby after he was caught snorting prescription pills belonging to his wife.

The following day, Terry Dugger, 48, was also charged with violating an earlier probation for aggravated battery.

The suspect’s wife, Sharon Dugger, 40, told Deputy Jacob Satterwhite she awakened about 2 am when she heard noise in the bathroom of the residence on Foxridge Trail, and shortly after went to their camper outside and found her husband and an acquaintance snorting the pills. Both were naked.

It was then he threatened to burn the house with their children inside.

$1500 in rings taken

A number of thefts from residences were reported to the sheriff’s department the past week, including one on Clete Harvey Rd. in the south county during which two rings valued at $1500 were taken.

Trina Harvey told Deputy Clements Leo on June 3 she discovered the rings missing from a safe in her bedroom on May 31, and gave him the name of a female who stayed at her home in early May as a possible suspect.

She claimed the guest during that time saw her open the safe to retrieve medicine.

Battery on wife, mother

The sheriff’s department arrested a Macclenny man early on June 8 and charged him with domestic battery on his wife and his mother.

Kevin Crawford, 26, admitted in an interview with Deputy Marc Heath that he came home to the residence on CR 23A north intoxicated about 6:30 am and argued with his wife Amanda, 26, who was readying for work.

Mr. Crawford is accused of scratching his wife when he grabbed her by the shirt and striking his mother Mary Denicola, 55, several times on the head when she attempted to intervene. All three reside at the residence.

Deputy Heath noted that one of the couple’s two children was present.

Drug possession arrests

County deputies and investigators made three arrests and filed one criminal complaint for drug possession the past week, all the result of traffic stops.

Investigators Matt Hauge and Matt Yarborough said they stopped a suspicious vehicle on Geitgey Ave. at Lincoln in Glen St. Mary about 10 pm on June 5 after earlier seeing the 1997 Toyota parked in the middle of the roadway.

Passenger Justin Pearce, 29, of Macclenny appeared to be shuffling his feet on the floorboard, said Investigator Yarborough, and when he was asked to exit the vehicle the officer found loose marijuana, a hypodermic needle and rolling papers.
