David Harold Jones Sr., 92, of Glen St. Mary died on April 5, 2013 at Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital. He was born in Dania, Florida on October 25, 1920 to the late Benjamin Dower Jones and Roselind Lauder Clark Jones. David was a resident of Macclenny since 1952 when he married his lovely wife Erin.
He joined the US Army prior to World War II and served the entire war in the South Pacific. He retired from the Army after 20 years and then was employed as a salesman at the Glen St. Mary Nursery for 20 years. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Macclenny. David had a passion for growing plants, gardening and landscaping. He was especially talented in growing orchids.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his loving wife Erin Poythress Jones; brother Thomas Jones; sisters Inez Hinson, Gertrude Jones and Ruth Farrar.
Allen Lee Moore, 43, of Macclenny died on April 6, 2013 in a traffic mishap. He was born in Jacksonville on July 30, 1969 to George Newton Moore Jr. and the late Mary Moore. Allen was a resident of Macclenny for the majority of his life and was a foreman many years in his family’s business George Moore Stucco. He was an avid NASCAR, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Washington Redskins fan.
Allen is survived by his father of Macclenny; children Donnie Lee Moore and Amanda Marie Moore of Virginia; brothers Anthony Wayne Moore of Macclenny and George N. (Kerry) Moore III of Maxville.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 12 at 2 pm at V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services in Macclenny. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
Beverly Patricia Kicklighter, 79, of Ft. White, Fla. died Monday, April 1 at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville following an extended illness. She was born in Jacksonville and spent most of her life in Lake City before moving back to Jacksonville. She was the daughter of the late Charles L. and Evelyn L. Seelbach Howard and the wife of the late Joseph Frank Kicklighter. She worked as a heavy equipment operator with the Orange County road department for over 20 years. She was a Baptist and enjoyed shopping and playing bingo.
She is survived by daughter Amanda Nicole Kicklighter of Jacksonville; sons William Thomas Kicklighter Sr. of Ocala, Allen Frank Kicklighter and Timmy Dale Kicklighter, both of Ft. White; sisters Charlene Pidgeon of Jacksonville and June Gonzales of Orlando; brother Bill Howard of Bunnell, Fla.; grandchildren William Thomas Kicklighter Jr., Samantha Marie Kicklighter and Jacob Moses Kicklighter of Jacksonville; ten great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held at 4 pm on Monday, April 8 in the chapel of Guerry Funeral Home in Macclenny with Rev. Gregory Combs, pastor of the Baxter Community Baptist Church, officiating. Final disposition will be by cremation.
