Leon Joseph Clardy, 61, of Taylor died May 7, 2011 at his residence with family by his side. He was born in Lake City, FL on November 24, 1949 to Forrest Leon Clardy and Lovey Crawford Clardy, and was a resident of Baker County for 23 years after moving from Jacksonville.

Mr. Clardy was an industrial machinist for many years at Millwright Union Local # 2411 in Jacksonville. Leon had a wonderful sense of humor, and enjoyed socializing, telling stories, and visiting family and friends. He also enjoyed tinkering with old cars, bartering, trading and fishing.

He was preceded in death by father Forrest Leon Clardy; son Sean Joseph Clardy.

Oveda Harvey Dugger, 79, of Middleburg died Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Orange Park Medical Center following an extended illness. She was born in Sanderson and lived in Middleburg for the past 53 years after moving there from Jacksonville. She worked as a computer operator with NAPA Auto Parts distribution center in Jacksonville for 39 years.

Mrs. Dugger attended Middleburg United Methohdist Church and was the co-captain of the 1949 Sanderson High School girls’ state basketball championship team. She was preceded in death by parents Earlis Harvey and Eva Davis Harvey; husband Robert E. Dugger.

Mr. Hillenbrand, 61, dies May 5th Print E-mail

William “Bill” Richard Hillenbrand, 61, of Macclenny died May 5, 2011. He was born in Syracuse, NY to the late James L. Hillenbrand and Sarah Guinto Hillenbrand on December 6, 1949. He was a graduate of Liverpool High School in Liverpool, NY, and received a BA from State University of New York at Cortland in 1972 and an MA from the Pennsylvania State University in 1974.

Mr. Hillenbrand taught English and history at the Northfield Mt. Herman Preparatory School in Northfield, MA from 1975-1995 and English at The Bolles School in Jacksonville from 1995 until his death. He was a devoted and popular teacher who received numerous awards for teaching excellence at both institutions. Bill was an excellent scholar and writer, and wrote the accompanying text to the widely used interactive CDs about the Civil War and the American Revolution.

 Clariece B. Mullis, 90, of Macclenny died May 6, 2011 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. She was born in Bulloch County, GA on March 14, 1921 to William A. Lanier and Bertie Proctor Lanier.

Mrs. Mullis was a resident of Baker County since 1971 after moving from Jacksonville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Macclenny and retired from the food service department at NEFSH after many years. She enjoyed spending time and taking care of her family.
