John Daniel “Danny” Willis Sr., 62, of Starke died on April 6, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Jacksonville on December 25, 1950 to the late Daniel “Willie” Willis and Delores Crews Willis. He was a resident of Starke for the past three years after moving from Macclenny where he resided since 1972. Danny served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and he retired from Haskell Steel Company as a foreman after 25 years. He loved spending time with his family and also enjoyed fishing, golfing and vacationing in the mountains.

Vera Mae Crews, 67, of Glen St. Mary died on Friday, March 29, 2013. Mrs. Crews enjoyed singing, being with her grandchildren and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by husband Cecil Crews; sons Elton (Katie) Rhoden of Sanderson and Ed (Lisa) Johns of Macclenny; sisters Nadine Dobson, Sylvia (Robert) Perdue, Margaret (Wendell) Kirkland, Virginia (Bobby) Thrift, all of Macclenny and Robin (Donnie) Mann of Sanderson; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral service for Mrs. Crews was held 11 am Wednesday, April 3 at the Glen Friendship Tabernacle in Glen St. Mary with Pastor Albert Starling officiating. Interment followed at Woodlawn Cemetery in Macclenny. Forbes Funeral Home of Macclenny was in charge of arrangements.

Jack Rhoden, 55, died on March 29, 2013 after a lengthy illness at his cabin home in Del Rio, Tennessee in his beloved Smoky Mountains. He was a Baker County native and the son of the late Dorothy M. Rhoden and the late Fletcher Rhoden of Macclenny.

He is survived by daughter Brandi Brown and son Jack Brady (Brad) Rhoden Jr., both of Macclenny; granddaughter Sydney Brown; grandsons Derek Brown and Mason Rhoden; the love of his life and fiancée Vicki Watson of Baldwin; sister Kimberly Lindsey (John) of Branford; brothers Jamie Rhoden (Jane) of Macclenny and Steve Rhoden (Sandra) of Houston Texas; nieces Krystal Rhoden of Macclenny, Stephanie Wilson (Todd) of Biloxi, Mississippi, Candace Naughton (Tim) of Branford;  nephews Christopher Rhoden (Kristin) of Little Rock, Arkansas, Tyler Rhoden (Nicole) of Nashville, Tennessee and Aaron Lindsey (Arika) of Tallahassee.

D.W. Robinson, 87, of Baldwin died on March 20, 2013. He was born on November 7, 1925 to the late Ervin and Maggie (Heaton) Robinson and was a foreman at Farnell’s Dairy, owned Robinson’s service station, was the Baldwin fire chief from 1976-1980 and a captain and assistant chief of police from 1972-1981. Most recently, Mr. Robinson retired from Walmart after 25 years. He attended Temple Baptist Church.

Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by daughter Brenda Dale Robinson and his wife of 63 years, Sarah Lee Oliver Robinson. He is survived by daughters Mildred (Dub) Cobb, Judy (Jim) Harper, Wanda Robinson and Roxanne (Chuck) Spitzer; ten grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; sister Betty Payne.
