Daisy “Ducky” Cason Doublerly died peacefully at her home in Macclenny on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at the age of 99. She was the 14th child born to Thad and Georgia Cason of Ft. White on August 18, 1911. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Lawrence Douberly; 13 siblings and their spouses.

Survivors include daughters Jacqueline Harris of Gainesville, Jean (Bobby) Sapp and Venita Milton of Macclenny; grandchildren Sandra (Steve) Rhoden, Ronnie (Mary) Sapp, Lynn (Tom) Quinlan, Larry (Pamela) Harris, Melody (Doug) Coggin, Donnie (Donna) Sapp, Brenda (MIke) Davis, Jay Milton and Holly (Mark) Lee, 16 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.

Boston Dicks, 82, of Macclenny died Wednesday, August 25, 2010 surrounded by his family singing hymns and praises to God. He was born in Lulu, Florida and had resided in Macclenny for 81 years. He worked as a truck driver with Pilot Carriers of Jacksonville for over 27 years.

Mr. Dicks enjoyed fishing,  and most of all serving God at his local church, First Baptist Church of Glen St. Mary. He was a member of the Teamsters Local Union #512 of Jacksonville, an Army veteran of the Korean War, a former member of the Baker County High School Chain Gang and a member of the first football team at Baker County High School.

Ms. McMahel dies August 7 Print E-mail

Lawanda Caprio McMahel, 95, of Jacksonville, and formerly of Macclenny, died August 7, 2010. She was born July 11, 1915 to Edward McMahel and Hettie Isabelle Roper. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was preceded in death by son Gerald Ryan Griffin Sr., sister Alta Wallace and brother Douglas McMahel.

Survivors include niece Laverne Goodman, Ramona Pugliese and Joe; special friends Mr. and Mrs. Townsend; sister Mickey and many other friends.
The funeral service was held August 12 at Shepard Funeral Home Chapel in Folkston at 11:00 am. Interment followed at Riverside Memorial Park in Jacksonville.

John Robert Solesbee, 51, of Baldwin died August 29, 2010. He was born in Daytona Beach to John Alvin Solesbee and the late Anna Mae Beck on November 2, 1959. He enjoyed hunting, drag racing, fishing and was a NASCAR fan.

Survivors include father John Solesbee; sister Sandra (Todd) Jolly; one cousin.
The family will hold a private memorial at a later date.  Ferreira Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.
