Curtis N. Stoutamire, 50, of Hattiesburg, MS died at his home on January 16, 2013. He was born in Glen St. Mary the third of seven children to Elder Curties and Flossie Stoutamire Sr.
He graduated from Baker County High School in 1980 and posthumously received a bachelor of theology degree from Higher Calling Bible College and Theological Seminary in Hattiesburg. He served 24 years in the U.S. Army and retired in October, 2004 as a sergeant first class. Mr. Stoutamire was employed by the U.S. Postal Service until his death and was the vice president of the NALC local union in Hattiesburg.
Other than his parents, Mr. Stoutamire is survived by his loving wife Juanita of Hattiesburg; children SPC Kelvin (Carla) Stoutamire of Junction City, KS, CPT Courtney Sanders of Houston TX, Chaddrick Stoutamire of Clarksville, TN, SPC Henry (Sgt. Jennifer) Hawkins of Mannheim, Germany, April Hawkins of Hattiesburg and SPC Elliott Sanderson of Grafenwoehr, Germany; siblings Cheryl Stoutamire of Glen, Evelyn (Monty) Jordan of Winston-Salem, NC, MSG Ronald (Alisha) Stoutamire of Seattle, WA, Margie (Eddie) Dasante of Birmingham, AL, John Stoutamire and Michael (Melvina) Stoutamire, both of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren; uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and military friends.
The funeral service for Mr. Stoutamire was held on January 23 at 1 pm at the Rock of Ages Christian Fellowship Center in Hattiesburg where he served as a men’s Sunday School teacher and on the usher board. Interment was at Highland Cemetery.
