It was more of the same for the Wildcat basketball team on December 18 in the packed BCHS gym as the Madison Cowboys came to town in hopes of knocking off the hot Wildcats and went away disappointed.BCHS ran out to an early lead and kept it on the way to a 62-48 win. The Cats went up 19-12 as Johnny Lamb opened the game with a strong seven-point showing in the first quarter and Charles Ruise Jr. nailed a pair of three pointers.
The Cats cooled a little in the second period but still managed to keep the Cowboys at arm’s length and take a 29-20 lead into the half.
BCHS built its lead in the third period from forward Brandon Lewis. Lewis has been steadily improving his offensive numbers and can be counted on for double figures in the scoring column, something that he hadn’t shown early in the season.
The Cats protected their lead throughout the half and didn’t let down as the game slipped away from the Cowboys. Ruise led the way with 24 points. Cameron Mack had 11, Lamb and Lewis 10 and Gardner 7 points.
The Cats took a short break for Christmas before cranking up the Florida First Coast Classic December 27-29 in the BCHS gym.
