Wildcat coach says offense is getting faster, defense benefitting from pads-on practice

The BCHS football program continued training camp throughout last week in preparation for the kickoff of the season August 23.

After running through non-contact drills for the majority of the first week, the team was finally able to begin hitting with pads on August 10. The practice opened up with a hitting drill pairing players of similar positions against one another. The physical nature of the drill set the tone for the rest of practice.

Wildcat training camp begins, no pads for week one

The BCHS football program opened up its training camp Monday and is holding practices in preparation for the upcoming season.

The JV and varsity teams will practice every afternoon this week after going through walkthroughs in the morning. New FHSAA rules dictate teams cannot hit through the first five days of practice, so the team will run noncontact position drills and focus on the fundamentals until then.

Twirlers garner gold and national title

The Baker County High School majorettes brought home gold medals in the 2013 High School Dance Twirl National Championships last month at a national competition at Notre Dame University.

The girls beat out four other teams from around the country to take the top prize with an overall score of 168.7, edging out the second-place team by slightly more than one point. The girls knew they performed well, but were uncertain if their performance was good enough to win.
