Volleyball camp at BCHS

Lady Wildcat volleyball coach Heather Sulkowski’s volleyball camp for rising fifth through ninth graders got underway this week.

Sulkowski allowed two younger campers, Hannah Davis and Elizabeth Kennedy who are 7, and a returning camper in fourth grade, Blakely Mallory, to participate as well.

Former BCHS alumni Logan Raulerson and Tori Paulson are helping out Sulkowski and JV coach Vanessa Roberts. Current Wildcat players are also helping out with the camp.

Limited space for free swim lessons at Y

Regional YMCAs, including the Baker County Y, will be offering free swim instruction in July to kindergarten through fifth graders on free or reduced school lunch.

Space is limited to 272 children and a Y membership is not required. The registration deadline is June 28.

Bobcats’ football schedule released

BCMS Bobcat Coach Rock Rhoden has finalized the season schedule and the B’Cats have an exciting seven game lineup for the fall. The Bobcats begin the season with three non-conference games, two of which are on the road. They will then finish off their schedule with four straight conference contests.

The B-Cats will face a stern early season test when they travel to Madison County for the opener on August 27. They stay on the road the following week with a trip to Starke to face Bradford Middle School September 3.

BCHS junior wins team roping championship

“My heroes have always been cowboys, and they still are, it seems.”

Willie Nelson’s words certainly echo in the ears of Bradon Callen. The BCHS junior, is a cowboy himself, and a good one at that. He recently walked away with a new saddle and a state title in team roping at the Florida High School Rodeo Championships.

Callen finished with 104 points for a 15th place in the All-Around but with teammate Colton Mathews of Lakeland, he took home the team roping championship and moves on to Youth Nationals in Shawnee, Oklahoma and High School Nationals in Rock Springs, Wyoming in July.
