The Wildcat football camp opened Monday and will give young players a chance to practice alongside current Wildcats.

The Wildcats worked out and ran conditioning drills while the BCMS Bobcats ran position drills. The camp gives the middle school players valuable experience as they get a chance to get familiar with the program while interacting with the varsity players.

Bullets top Fernandina, championships next

The Baker County Bullets returned to the Baker County Family YMCA one final time this summer with a victorious effort over Fernandina Beach’s MacArthur Sailfish on July 20.

The Bullets continued their success in both individual and team results during the meet as they won 2,687 to 1,844. The individual results led to the team swimming away with the meet.

But it wasn’t easy. There were several extremely close finishes.

A teenage girl from Glen St. Mary has been making a name for herself recently in the male-dominated world of martial arts.

Ashlynn Johnson began training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), a martial arts discipline focused on grappling and wrestling in favor of striking, when she was 10 years old and has been training for four years now. She said it started as just another sport  — great for getting and staying in shape. It has evolved into much more though.
