Bullets sweep tri-meet

The YMCA Baker Bullets swim team sunk their opponents last weekend, amassing  an outstanding 2636 points as opposed to 414 from the Arlington River Fins and just 51 by the Johnson Hammerheads in three-way competition in Macclenny.

The Bullets swept most of the events in which they had multiple swimmers. In the 200-yard freestyle, Ashley Jennings, Andrea Clark and Abby Rice took the top three places.

The three youngest divisions in Little League baseball and softball concluded their end-of-season “inter-league” tournaments last weekend.

Next up will be tournaments for the older divisions in which the best players from Baker County will compete for district titles against out-of-county teams.

The Wildcat junior varsity baseball team is hitting the road this summer for a string of games around the region. First up was  Camden County High in Kingsland, GA on June 17.

That game was stopped in the fourth inning due to lightening with the Wildcats up 7-0.

Top finishes for many swimmers

The Baker Bullets started their YMCA swim season with a strong showings June 15 at the Barco-Newton Y in Fleming Island. Both boys and girls swimmers turned in winning times in the meet.

Ashton Ray, Ashley Jennings, Andrea Clark and Abby Rice swept the girls 50 yard freestyle. Elizabeth Reagan and Kyrie Holman were third and fourth in the Girls 13-14 50 free.

Ethan Knight, Danile Boehm and Joseph Boehm were second, third and fourth in the boys 13-14 50 free. Audri Leis was second in the 11-12, 50 free.

Daniel Westinghouse was third in the boys 50 free.Jordan Knight was first in the 6 and under 25 free and Will Nickles was second in the boys event. Andrea Clark was first and Kate Whitehead third in the girls 100 yard backstroke.
