Falcons clinch the title with 22-6 romp

The Youth Football League senior division Falcons brought home the win and the championship title by coming out on top of the 49ers.  The Falcons scored 22 points to the 49ers’ 6. The senior division game was played Tuesday night at Memorial Stadium following the middle division championship game.

Local in state finals for Snyder

neriA Macclenny cross country runner had an impressive showing at the Class 2A State Finals November 9 at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee. Sophomore Jackson Neri, who attends Bishop Snyder, ran a personal best time of 17:10 at the finals, finishing 64th out of 181 runners who competed in the meet in Class 2A. His performance helped Bishop Snyder finish 14th out of the 24 schools at the competition.

Ken Jefferson visits BCHS students

jefferson3D8A0760Sanderson native and retired Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office media spokesman Ken Jefferson was the guest speaker on November 12 at a class of 14 gifted students at Baker County High School. Mr. Jefferson, who retired from JSO after 24 years, talked about his years as a detective and what he learned about the criminal mind. He was born on a Baker County farm where his father Theotis still resides and attended Ribault HIgh in Jacksonville. He told the students he decided to enter law enforcement in the fifth grade, terming it “a calling, not just a job.” He also spoke of the art of questioning suspects and reading their body language. Mr. Jefferson is best known on the First Coast as the crime analyst for WJXT Channel 4 in Jacksonville, and revealed he plans a run for Duval County sheriff in 2015.
