Michael J. Looby, 70, of Wylie, Texas and formerly of Macclenny, died on June 19, 2013 after a brief illness. He was born to the late Michael Looby and Anne Burns in Cincinnati, OH on December 12, 1942 and grew up in East Orange, NJ. Mr. Looby was the owner of Lyman Green’s BBQ in Macclenny during the 1970s and 1980s, and was well-known as “The Yankee” by his friends.

Annie Myrtice Taylor Walker, 86, of Glen St. Mary died on July 3, 2013 at St. Vincent’s Riverside Center for Caring after a short illness with family by her side. Mrs. Walker was born in Madison, FL on August 31, 1926 to the late Lonnie Buford Taylor and Ethel Theo Kelley Taylor. She was a lifelong resident of Baker County and a graduate of Taylor High School.
Johnny C. Stratton, 81, of Macclenny died on Wednesday, July 3, 2013. He was born July 29, 1931 to the late Happy and Geneva Hutto Stratton, and was an electrician at Williamson Electric, retiring after 40 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, reading Western books and spending time with his family and friends.
Melvin Lucille “Nannie” Tharpe, 98, of Macclenny died on July 7, 2013 at her daughter’s residence surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Bradford County on November 11, 1914 to the late Chase Driggers and Esther Hicks Driggers Rehberg and resided in Macclenny for 64 years. Lucille was a homemaker, the loving mother of six children and a member of the Macclenny Church of Christ.
