Funeral Thursday for Ms. McKinne

Shirley Norman McKinney, 75, of Macclenny died on June 17, 2013 at Acosta-Rua Center for Caring with family by her side. She was born in Sanderson on September 30, 1937 to the late Thomas Samuel Norman and Edna Bell Prevatt Norman.

Shirley was a lifelong resident of Baker County and a longtime member of Raiford Road Church. She enjoyed her career as a supervisor for Independent Life Insurance Company, but most of all she enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her children. She loved singing Gospel music, playing the piano, sewing and teaching her home Bible study. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 39 years, Jack G. McKinney; and brother David Lee Norman.

Joe Lee Jr., 66, of Hilliard died on June 15, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Branford, FL on May 26, 1947 to the late Joe Lee Sr. and Thelma Bryant Lee Bryan.

Mr. Lee was a resident of Hilliard for the past 27 years after moving from Macclenny. He was raised in Baker County and spent many years as a plant nursery employee. Mr. Lee enjoyed fishing and watching documentaries, westerns and the History Channel. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Virgil Lee.

Mr. Lee is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Brenda Lee of Hilliard; son Charlie Lee of Jacksonville; brother Edward Lee of Lake Butler; sisters Myrtle Lee of Mandarin and Gennie (Bobby) Broughton of Gainesville; granddaughters Cameron and Madison Lee.

Daisy Stringer dies Tuesday

Daisy Jean Stringer, 78, a lifelong resident of North Florida, died on June 11, 2013. Survivors include numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service was held on Monday, June 17, at 11 am at Mantown Cemetery south of Glen St. Mary. Fraser Funeral Home of Jacksonville was in charge of arrangements.

Teacher Wilda Heppner dies June 17

Wilda Heppner

Wilda Rae Heppner, 51, of Glen St. Mary died June 17, 2013 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. She was born in Jacksonville on October 24, 1961 to the late Berry Alvin Lampp and Ethel Jeanette Mays Lampp.

She has been a resident of Baker County since 1971 after moving from Jacksonville. Mrs. Heppner graduated from Baker County High School in 1979 and then married the love of her life, Walter William Heppner, II on December 15, 1979. She had a passion for education and teaching. She taught at J. Franklyn Keller Intermediate School for the past 11 years, most recently teaching art. Mrs. Heppner loved drawing and gardening, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
