Shirley Davis, 61, of Glen St. Mary

Shirley Mae Davis, 61, of Glen St. Mary died July 5, 2011 at her home. Mrs. Davis was born in Harriman, Tennessee and had resided in Baker County for the past 26 years. She was the daughter of the late Odis Sitzler and Betty Waldo. She was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Ralph Davis; son Joseph (Hodges) Waldo; grandson Charlie Waldo Jr.  Mrs. Davis attended the Taylor Church.

Survivors include daughter Gloria (Henry) Doby of Florence, SC; sons Dennis (Dianne) Hodges of Macclenny, Charlie “Cooter” (Kathy) Waldo of Moniac, Ga, Vernon (Angie) Davis of Sanderson and Buford Ray (Wendy) Hodges of Baldwin; sisters Jackie (Charles) Nowling and Ann Marie Riffe, both of Ft. Walton Beach and Debbie (Chris) Ausburn of Harriman, TN; brothers Pete (Brenda) Waldo of Rockwood, TN, Tony Waldo of Phenix City, Alabama, Michael Sitzler of Eufaula, Alabama and Bobby Waldo of San Antonio, TX; 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren also survive. 

The funeral service for Mrs. Davis was held July 8 at 2:00 pm at her church with the Rev. Carl Taylor officiating. Interment followed at Cedar Creek Cemetery in Sanderson. Guerry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Deatra Manning, 49, of Glen dies

Deatra Lynn Manning, 49, of Glen St. Mary died July 4, 2011.

Survivors include father Elijah Manning; mother Evernease Manning; sons Delvin Manning and Jimmy Manning; daughter Brandy Manning; sisters Linda (Anthony) Hicks, Sandra Clark, Victoria Manning, Jennifer (Lamar) Ford, Veronica Manning; brothers Darryl (Michelle) Manning, Elijah (Tonda) Manning Jr.; a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service was held July 9 at Carthage Chapel in Jacksonville. Interment followed at Old Quitman Cemetery in Sanderson. Carthage Chapel Funeral Home of Jacksonville was in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Bridgeman had local clinic

Dr. Andrew L. Bridgeman, 64, of Jacksonville died June 30, 2011 at Shands Gainesville.

Dr. Bridgeman was born on July 11, 1946 in St. Michael, Barbados, the son of late James P. and Audrey P. Bridgeman. He was united in marriage to Kathleen R. Boodoosingh, his wife of 30 years. He was the owner and operator of Southern Medical Clinic in Macclenny and a member of the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL. He was an avid fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

He is survived by his loving wife Kathleen; his mother Audrey Bridgeman; brothers Warren and Anthony and a sister, Janice Lorraine Bridgeman; numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was held on Saturday, July 9 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Alfred Warren Bridgeman officiating. Burial followed in Deltona Memorial Gardens in Orange City. Funeral arrangements were by Deltona Memorial Funeral Home in Orange City.

Bootsie Frederick, 75, of Sanderson

Bootsie Frederick, 75, of Sanderson

Bootsie Grace Frederick, 75, of Sanderson, died July 4 at the Acosta Rua Center for Caring in Jacksonville. Mrs. Frederick was born in White Springs and resided in Baker County for the past 30 years. She was the daughter of the late Ernest Daniel and Zeffie Johnson Grace.

Bootsie graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, was a homemaker most of her life and enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening. She loved gathering with family and friends for social teas. She worked along side her husband in the Labor of Love Ministry until his death in 2006. She also owned a small janitorial business.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Rev. Henry Durell “Pop” Frederick; sons Clint Frederick and Charles Frederick. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend.

Survivors include daughters Cheryl (Jeff) Read, Fisherville, KY, and Cathy (Steve) Harvey, Sanderson; son Chris (Gayla) Frederick, Big Bear, CA; sisters Helen Bunkley, Keystone Heights and Clara Rhodes, Tallahassee; brothers Ernest (Deloris) Grace, Fruit Cove, and Charles (Jean) Grace, Keystone Heights; brother-in-law James “Butch” (Dianne) Frederick, Bryceville; twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted Thursday, July 7 at 2:00 pm in the Macclenny First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ricky Baldwin officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 6, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Guerry Funeral Home in Macclenny.
