Hoyt Noles, 70, of Glen St. Mary

Hoyt W. Noles, 70, of Glen St. Mary died April 11, 2012. He was born in Jacksonville to the late Oather Z. Noles and Gladys Grizzard Noles Sims on August 26, 1941. He was a Baptist and resided in Baker County since 1973. He was a member of Millwrights Local Union 2411.

Hoyt loved life and never met a stranger. He liked to joke, fish, hunt, shoot pool and ride motorcycles. He was predeceased by his brother Carl “Sonny” Noles and stepfather Charles Sims.

Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years Shirley Dobbs Noles of Glen St. Mary; children Scott (Ryba) Noles of Glen St. Mary, C.J. (Trish) Noles of Macclenny, Rhonda (Richard) McEwen of Keystone Heights and Renee (David) Rener of Texas; sister Shirley (Billy) Creech of Orange Park; second mother Aunt Hazel Williams of Dallas, GA; 11 grandchildren and loving dog Beamer.

Monroe Gray, 65, of Pomona Park

Monroe Alvin Gray, 65, of Pomona Park, Florida died Thursday, April 12 at Shands at University of Florida Hospital in Gainesville following a brief illness. He was a native of Jacksonville and resided in Baldwin before moving to Pomona Park, 20 years ago. He was a boilermaker in the construction industry for 35 years until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his father Joe Gray.

Survivors include wife Vivian L. Gray of Pomona Park: children Felicity Crawford of Jacksonville, Anthony M. (Jennifer) Gray of Macclenny, Joseph (Sandra) Gary of Glen St. Mary, Jeremy Hars and Joshua D. Hars, both of Ocala; mother Edith Davis (John) Young of Lake City: sister Martha Gray of Lake City: brothers Joe Gray II of Providence, FL and Tim (Gwen) Gray of Sanderson: 14 grandchildren.

Rodney Davis, 35, of Sanderson

Rodney Scott Davis Sr., 36, of Sanderson died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 after an extended illness. He was born August 8, 1975 to Rita Davis of Sanderson and Terrell Godwin of Taylor. He was a lifelong resident of Baker County and a member of Dinkins New Congregational Methodist Church of Sanderson. He was a member of Millwright Local Union #2411 of Jacksonville for 10 years and the Masonic Lodge #122 of Sanderson.

Mr. Davis was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going to church, hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed playing church volleyball and participating in Baker County Little League. He was preceded in death by his beloved Papa, Bud Davis of Sanderson and his grandfather Carl Godwin of Taylor.

George Rodgers, 84, of Jacksonville

George B. Rodgers, 84, of Jacksonville died Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at his home in Keystone Heights. Mr. Rodgers was born in Sanderson to the late William Leroy and Nettie Lee Dowling Rodgers. He moved from Glen St. Mary in 1960 to Jacksonville. He was a member of the teamsters union and a retired truck driver with Carolina Freight Company for over 30 years. Mr. Rodgers was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Mrs. Shirley Dugger Rodgers in 2011.

Survivors include daughter Gail (Bill) Riddell of Amelia Island; son Billy (Betty) Rodgers, Keystone Heights; brother Rev. James Gordon (Sherron) Rodgers of Glen St. Mary; sister  Margie Lee Darnell of Palatka; grandchildren Alison (Scott) Everill, Will (Christina) Riddell, Erin (Luke) Carter, Zachary Rodgers, Rebekah Lynn Rodgers, Michael Ninos and Tyler Rodgers; five great-grandchildren.
