Jerral Johnson, 61, of Starke dies

Jerral Lee Johnson, 61, of Starke died Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Shands at the University of Florida. He was born in Jacksonville on November 8, 1950 to the late Herschel Johnson and Ruby Lee Thompson Dawkins. Jerral was a resident of Starke since 1978 after moving from Jacksonville.

Mr. Johnson was a member of the Sampson City Church of God and he retired after many years as a firefighter and paramedic. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his garage and most of all spending time with his family. He was preceded by his parents and step-father Willis Lee Dawkins.

Survivors include loving wife of 41 years Brenda Joyce Johnson of Starke; children Kimberly Ann (Jeffery Michael) Johnson of Jacksonville and Gregory Michael Johnson, an ag teacher at Baker County High School, of Lawtey; brother Wilbur (Mary Alice) Johnson of Fernandina Beach; step-brother Lee (Yvonne) Daw­­­­kins of Jacksonville; step-sister Joann (Lamar) Pierce of Orange Park; granddaughters Abbigail and Madilyn Johnson.

The funeral service was held on Monday, January 2 at 11:00 am at his church with Revs. Gene Bass and Alton Coleman officiating. Interment followed at Crosby Lake Cemetery. Archie Tanner Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.

Wilma D. Razo, 88, of Sanderson

Wilma Davis Razo, 88, of Sanderson died at home with her family by her side after a long illness. She was a lifelong member of Dinkins New Congregational Methodist Church of Sanderson. She worked as a waitress and loved going to church and spending time with her family. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents Albert Bertie Davis and Pearl Raulerson Davis as well as several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include sons Clifton (Betty) Haines of Moreland, GA and Robert Haines of Sanderson; sisters Pearl Shumate and Alice Faye Roaldsen, both of Sanderson; brothers Preston (Miriam) Davis, Elmus “Bud” (Shirley) Davis and Carlton (Margie) Davis, all of Sanderson; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren also survive.

The funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, January 5 at her church with Rev. Allen Crews officiating, assisted by Rev. Timothy Alford. Interment will follow at Cedar Creek Cemetery, Sanderson. Visitation will be January 4 from 5-10 pm at her church. Guerry Funeral Home of Macclenny is in charge of arrangements.

Johnny Bennett, 51, of Sanderson

Johnny Scott Bennett, 51, of Sanderson died December 22, 2011. He was born in Lake City to the late Johnnie and Geraldine Conway Bennett on January 5, 1960. He was a life-long resident of Sanderson, a 1978 graduate of Baker County High School and was employed at InSteel Industries where he worked as a production leadman for the last 33 years.

Scott was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was gentle and always willing to lend a helping hand. He also enjoyed bull riding and hunting shows.

Survivors include wife of 13 years Kimberly R. Long Bennett of Sanderson; children Ashley Bennett of Macclenny, Tyler Bennett, Christopher Johns and Zachary Johns, all of Sanderson; brothers Vic (Kathy Jo) Bennett of Macclenny and Terry (Kim) Bennett of Sanderson; sister Joy (Ellis) Rhoden of Sanderson; aunt Dolly Mann of Sanderson; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 27 at 11 am at V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services Chapel in Macclenny with Tom Mann and Pastor Joe Ruise officiating. Interment followed at North Prong Cemetery in Taylor.

Lois Bridges, 65, of Glen St. Mary

Lois Lee Bridges, 65, of Glen St. Mary died December 26, 2011. She was born in Naples to the late Gerald Chesser and Myrtle Kirkland on September 24, 1946. She was a resident of Baker County after moving from Brandon, FL in 1990 and a member of Faith Baptist Church.

Lois was owner and operator of L & L Kennels for 20 years and enjoyed raising and breeding dogs and birds. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, making ceramics and crafts, yard sales and over the years was very active in the youth department at church. 

Survivors include husband of 42 years Doyal H. Bridges of Glen St. Mary; children Lonnie L. (Lauren) Bridges of Brandon, FL and LaSondra L. Bridges of Glen St. Mary; brothers Leonard and Lonnie Chesser, both of Naples; sister Virginia Sparks of Arkansas; grandchildren LaTianna Bridges-Miracle and Lucian Bridges-Miracle; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be held on Friday December 30 at 2 pm at V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services chapel in Macclenny.  Interment will follow in South Prong Cemetery in Sanderson. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12-2 pm at the funeral home.
