Thomas Mixon, 77, of Sanderson

Thomas Joshua Mixon, 77, of Sanderson died Friday, January 20, 2012. He was born in Baxter to the late Thomas and Gracie Anderson Mixon. He was a member of Lenox Avenue Church of God in Jacksonville   Mr. Mixon was a retired truck driver with Interstate Bakery. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Paul Noles.

Survivors include wife Betty Mixon; sons Mickey (Rainie) Mixon, Darvin (Deneese) Mixon, Ray (Jennifer) Mixon; daughters Debbie (R.D.) Padgett, Lanette (Buddy) Goodin, Kathy Mixon, Kimberly (Shawn) Davies, Lisa (Hughey) Cook, Kristina Kirkland, and Margaret Mixon; brother Joe E. Mixon; sisters Virginia FontainSantago and Jean Singletary; 21 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.

Funeral Wednesday for Flossie Maddox

Flossie Broughton Maddox, 84, died January 22, 2012. She was a native of Barbersville, KY and lived in Jacksonville most of her life before moving to Macclenny.

Mrs. Maddox retired from Paramount/Cargil and was an active member of Dinsmore Baptist Church. She was predeceased by daughters Trisha Day and Vickie Turner, and two grandsons.

She is survived by husband Eddie L. Maddox; daughters Orvidale (Steve) Cox, Deborah Howell and Shilbey (Rick) Dotson; son Dr. Winson (Debi) Butler; son-in-law Larry Turner; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Brenda Nipper, 61, of Macclenny

Brenda Lounell Atkinson Nipper, 61, of Macclenny died  January 12, 2012. She was born in Thomasville, GA to the late Royce W. Atkinson and Beatrice Lucas Atkinson on May 15, 1950. She was a resident of Macclenny for the last 40 years and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Brenda loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchild. She was an avid Gator fan and enjoyed gardening, fishing and reading. She was predeceased by son Jimmy Norman and daughter Patty Nipper.

Survivors include her loving husband of 39 years David Nipper of Macclenny; children Darrell (Michele) Norman of Crawfordville, FL, Lounell (Thomas) Royal of Macclenny and Allen (Cathy) Nipper of Macclenny;  sisters Linda Williams of Macclenny, Debbie Miller of Panacea, FL and Jenny Atkinson of Quincy, FL; grandchildren Virginia, Ashley, Cody, Dillon, Dalton, Zack and Colin; great- granddaughter Ellena.

Doris Fraser, 88, of Macclenny

Margaret Doris Fraser, 88, of Macclenny died Monday, January 16, 2012 at St. Vincents Medical Center after a short illness. She was born in Jacksonville and resided in Macclenny most of her life. She worked at Northeast Florida State Hospital and later was employed as an x-ray technician at Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital for many years until her retirement in 1986.

Mrs. Fraser was a loving mother and grandmother and a master at sewing and knitting cloth items. She enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and Florida Gators. She was preceded in death by parents Ozzie Nelson and Minnie Baldree Anderson, brother J.B. Anderson and sister-in-law Lilly Anderson.
