Joseph Mann, 64, dies December 4

Joseph E. Mann 64, of Glen St. Mary died on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the Veterans Medical Center in Lake City after an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Baker County, the son of Funston Mann, who preceded him in death. He was a long distance truck driver, a member of the VFW, American Legion and DAV.

Mr. Mann is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Thelma Louise Stephens Mann of Glen St. Mary; daughters Lisa Manning (Richard) of Sneads, Edna Jo Medina (Elvin) of Sanderson and Crystal Summey (Joseph) of Jacksonville; son Roscoe Stephens (Dawn) of Callahan; mother Hazel Richard of Sanderson; brothers John Paul Mann of Sanderson; William Richard of Glen St. Mary and Douglas Funston Mann; sisters Margaret Sallie (Jean) of Sanderson and Mary Waters (Roger) of Middleburg; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Infant Johnson dies December 8

Infant Lacey Leigh Johnson died on December 8, 2012 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. She is survived by parents Robert and Courtney Johnson; sister Madison Johnson and brother Hunter Johnson, all of Macclenny; maternal grandparents Chris (Katherine) Sineath and paternal grandparents Randy (Karen) Johnson, all of Jacksonville.

V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services of Macclenny was in charge of arrangements.

Harry Hickox, 50, dies December 7th

Harry I. Hickox, 50, a lifelong resident of Baker County, died on December 7, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Folkston, GA on December 18, 1961 to Hershel Harry Hickox and the late Alma Doris Crews Hickox. Harry enjoyed playing the guitar, fishing, boating and riding his motorcycle. He was preceded in death by his mother and sister Tammy Marie Crews.

He is survived by his father of Brunswick, GA; step-brother Clifford Dixon; sisters Rose (Jeffery) Creekmore of Glen St. Mary, Pam (Dennis) Lipnick of Macclenny and Myra (Tommy) Eades of Bruswick.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 13 at 1 pm in the chapel of V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services Macclenny with Pastor Oral Lyons officiating.

Donald W. Fraze dies December 5

Donald W. Fraze, 77, a 22-year resident of Baker County, died on December 5, 2012 at Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital. He was born in Topeka, KS on April 9, 1935 to the late Donald L. Fraze and Ethel S. Smith. Donald served his country proudly in the United States Army from 1952-1955 as a field radio operator and in the United States Air Force from 1955 -1963 as an electronics technician. He earned an associate of science degree in accounting from Jones Business College  in 1976, and for the past eight years he was employed by the Baker County Sheriff’s Office as a crossing guard.

Mr. Fraze was a pastor and minister for 26 years. He enjoyed bowling, playing computer games and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father Ralph S. Smith and brother John D. Smith.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Lucille K. Fraze; brother Richard (Earlene) Fraze Sr.; sister-in-law Joyce; children Lori M. (Mark) Wilkinson, Robin L. (Tommy) O’Neal, Chris L. (Sheri) Fraze and Wayne D. (Meike) Fraze; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren (three on the way); nieces and nephews and a great-grandchild on the way.

The funeral service for Mr. Fraze was held on Tuesday, December 11 at 11:30 am at V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services with Pastor Shelia Houston officiating. Interment followed at Jacksonville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations for funeral expenses.
