Thomas Mixon, 77, of Sanderson

Thomas Joshua Mixon, 77, of Sanderson died Friday, January 20, 2012. He was born in Baxter to the late Thomas and Gracie Anderson Mixon. He was a member of Lenox Avenue Church of God in Jacksonville   Mr. Mixon was a retired truck driver with Interstate Bakery. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Paul Noles.

Survivors include wife Betty Mixon; sons Mickey (Rainie) Mixon, Darvin (Deneese) Mixon, Ray (Jennifer) Mixon; daughters Debbie (R.D.) Padgett, Lanette (Buddy) Goodin, Kathy Mixon, Kimberly (Shawn) Davies, Lisa (Hughey) Cook, Kristina Kirkland, and Margaret Mixon; brother Joe E. Mixon; sisters Virginia FontainSantago and Jean Singletary; 21 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.

Funeral Wednesday for Flossie Maddox

Flossie Broughton Maddox, 84, died January 22, 2012. She was a native of Barbersville, KY and lived in Jacksonville most of her life before moving to Macclenny.

Mrs. Maddox retired from Paramount/Cargil and was an active member of Dinsmore Baptist Church. She was predeceased by daughters Trisha Day and Vickie Turner, and two grandsons.

She is survived by husband Eddie L. Maddox; daughters Orvidale (Steve) Cox, Deborah Howell and Shilbey (Rick) Dotson; son Dr. Winson (Debi) Butler; son-in-law Larry Turner; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Jessie Lee, 88, of Jacksonville

Jessie Mae Dortch Lee, 88, of Jacksonville died Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital in Macclenny. She was born in Lake City to the late John and Elsie Tyre Dortch. She was a member of the Manntown Congregational Holiness Church of Glen St. Mary. During her 65-year married life she was a faithful partner to her husband in his ministry. She served the Lord from an early childhood and prior to her marriage, she accompanied her minister-father to the various churches he served. Attending church functions and services was her life.

Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her husband Willard Lee, her parents, brothers Leonard, Bill, Johnny, and Jerry Dortch and sister Jewell Dortch Thompson.

Jack Ford Sr., brother of local

Jack Samuel Ford Jr died January 8, 2012. He was born in Brunswick, GA to Jack Ford Sr and Edna Mae Ford and raised in Kissimmee. After graduating from Osceola High School, he moved to Tallahassee to attend college. Upon marrying Antonette L. Walker in Pensacola, they moved to Ft. Lauderdale. In 1992 he joined the United States Navy and moved first to California then to Norfolk, VA where his son Jack Samuel Ford III was born.

Mr. Ford continued his work as a dental tech until completion of dental repair school in 2000. He then moved his family to Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii and his military career then moved his family to Middleburg, then to Naples, Italy and finally to Green Cove Springs. Jack retired as a bio-med tech in July 2009 and the most important aspect of his life was his devoted family. He was preceded in death by his father.
