Mary Jo Thomas, 54, of Macclenny

Mary Jo Thomas, 54, of Macclenny died March 8, 2012 with her family at her side. She was born in Quincy, FL to C.J. and Mae Brock on January 12, 1958. Mary Jo was a resident of Macclenny for the last 26 years. She was a first grade teacher at Westside Elementary where she loved teaching children. It was not a job for her but a calling.

Mrs. Thomas graduated from Florida State University with an undergraduate degree in elementary education and received a masters in elementary education from the University of North Florida. Mary Jo’s first love was the Lord and she served as the first lady of Christian Fellowship Temple by her husband’s side. She was a fabulous cook and loved her Sunday dinners spent with her family, always including a dessert. She loved the vacations spent at the beach, shopping with her girls on Saturdays, spending time with her grandchildren and her church family.

Mrs. Williams, 85, of Moniac, GA

Daisybelle Thrift Williams, 85, of Moniac, GA died Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Acosta-Rau Center for Caring in Jacksonville following a short illness. She was born in Moniac and lived there all of her life.

She was a sales clerk at the former Covin Five and Ten Store in Macclenny for many years and was a member of Moniac Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and having fellowship with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents Nathan and Lula Sands Thrift.

Arie ‘Sissy’ Carter, 72, of Macclenny

Arie “Sissy” Lauramore Carter, 72, of Macclenny died Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at her residence after an extended illness. She was born in Moniac, Georgia, the daughter of the late Ernest and Myrtie Johns Crews. She was a homemaker and a very devoted wife and mother whose passion was fishing. She would go fishing and always be home in time to have supper on the table. Sissy will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, the father of her children R.B. Lauramore Sr. and second husband Charlie Carter.

Survivors include son R.B. (Karen) Lauramore Jr. of Raiford; daughters Janice Rhoden of Glen St. Mary and Debbie (Bill) Sirmans of Macclenny; twin brother Aaron “Buddy” (Judy) Crews of Moniac and Jimmy (Debbie) Crews Sr. of Olustee; sisters Ophelia Nipper, Geneva Rewis, and Carolyn Velleca, all of Macclenny; grandchildren Sandra C. (Chris) Harvey, Jimbo Green, Jennifer C. (Nathan) Aldridge, Traci R. (Chris) Mann, Dustin Lauramore, Macy Lauramore, Destiny Lauramore; step-grandson Warren (Danielle) Rhoden; 15 great-grandchildren also survive

Merri Farley, 62, of West Virginia

Merri Noel Puckett Farley,  62, of Barboursville, WV died Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at her son’s residence in Sanderson.  She was born on December 20, 1949 in Daytona Beach. Mrs. Farley was a member of New Baptist Church, Hunting W.V., where she played the piano for 55 years. She loved traveling, spending time with family and designing gift baskets. She retired as a distribution specialist with the U.S. Postal Service  after 15 years of service. She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, James M. Farley III.

Survivors include children James M. (Kimberly L.) Farley IV, of Sanderson; Katherine M.(Kevin A.) Kruser of Springfield, MA; aunt Mary Coons of Blairsville, GA; grandchildren Emily, Jimmy and Cody Farley and Zachery A. Kruser.
