Edna Hobbs, 85, of Macclenny

Edna Hobbs, 85, of Macclenny died April 9, 2012. She was born in Frostproof, FL to the late Dan C. Willis and Ruth Gertrude Ward Willis on September 9, 1926. She was a life long resident of Baker County. Edna was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed crocheting and tending to her flowers, but most of all she enjoyed cooking for her family. She made each member of her family special dishes just for them at family events.

Mrs. Hobbs took pride in teaching her children and grandchildren life lessons of honesty and sportsmanship through winning and losing of board games. She was a caregiver and took care of her family and late husband in sickness and in health. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years Oscar Floyd Hobbs; daughter Kathy Robertson and six siblings.

Evelyn Ellis, 53, of Macclenny

Evelyn Bennett Brown Ellis, 53, of Macclenny died Friday, March 30 at her residence following a brief illness. She was born in Taylor and resided in Baker County all her life. She was a homemaker and enjoyed fishing, camping and telling jokes. She was a member of Road to Calvary Church in Glen St. Mary.

Mrs. Ellis was preceded in death by her parents Lemmie and Lottie Bell Trowell Bennett, son Jamie Ellis and siblings Alice Marie Bennett and L.J. Bennett.

George Rodgers, 84, of Jacksonville

George B. Rodgers, 84, of Jacksonville died Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at his home in Keystone Heights. Mr. Rodgers was born in Sanderson to the late William Leroy and Nettie Lee Dowling Rodgers. He moved from Glen St. Mary in 1960 to Jacksonville. He was a member of the teamsters union and a retired truck driver with Carolina Freight Company for over 30 years. Mr. Rodgers was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Mrs. Shirley Dugger Rodgers in 2011.

Survivors include daughter Gail (Bill) Riddell of Amelia Island; son Billy (Betty) Rodgers, Keystone Heights; brother Rev. James Gordon (Sherron) Rodgers of Glen St. Mary; sisterĀ  Margie Lee Darnell of Palatka; grandchildren Alison (Scott) Everill, Will (Christina) Riddell, Erin (Luke) Carter, Zachary Rodgers, Rebekah Lynn Rodgers, Michael Ninos and Tyler Rodgers; five great-grandchildren.

Clarence Williams, 82, of Macclenny

Clarence R. Williams Sr., 82, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012. He was born on February 1, 1930, in Macclenny to the late Arthur and Edna Marie Williams. He was educated in Baker County and retired from Owen Steel in Whitehouse. He loved the outdoors especially gardening, fishing and crabbing. He was a gentle, humble, kind, patient, generous person and a wonderful husband and father.

Survivors include wife of 60 years Rosa Lee Williams; children Rosa Annette Williams, Joyce Williams, Eunice (Gerald) Williams, Linda (Stafford) Hampton, Bishop Clarence (Wanda) Williams Jr., Verna (LuAnne) Williams and Videll (Marva) Williams; siblings Bobbie Lee Paige, Doris Jean Cooley, Lois Williams and Curtis Williams Sr.; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
