‘Ms. LV’ Branigan dies in Vero Beach

Elvira D. (Ms. LV) Branigan, 95, died on August 5, 2012 at The Place in Vero Beach. She was preceded in death by husband General Edward S. Branigan Jr., a decorated World War II hero and her husband of 49 years who died in 1993.

Originally from New York, she moved to Florida in 1971 and to Baker County in 2006. Her father Dr. Domonic DiPasca made house calls using a horse and carriage. Her mother Emilia DePasca, was an opera singer. She had two brothers, Dr. Robert DiPasca and Roger DiPasca, Esq.

Ms. LV was a familiar face at the Baker County Council on Aging in Macclenny and at “Miss Elvie’s Place,” the respite center named after her and operated by the council. She looked forward to “going to school” every day, and being there with her friends.

Lucille Crews, 77, dies on August 7th

Lucille Bennett Crews, 77, of Moniac, Georgia, died on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Jacksonville following a brief illness. She was born in Taylor to the late Alex Bennett and Ida Rewis Bennett.

Mrs. Crews made her home and farm, the “Big Bend Ranch”, in Moniac, with her late husband for over 60 years. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, working at the family farm and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Mrs. Crews was a Baptist and member of Moniac Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Oliver Donald Crews, on July 5th of this year, brother Dorsey Bennett and sister Voncille Hand.

Aline R. Davis, 82, of Jacksonville

Aline R. Davis, 82, of Jacksonville died on Friday, August 10, 2012 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. She was born in Moniac, Georgia to the late Hardy Raulerson and Rachel Mixon Raulerson. Mrs. Davis was raised in the Moniac and Baxter communities and lived in Jacksonville since 1953. She retired in 1984 from the Duval County School Board after over 30 years. Mrs. Davis enjoyed canning, cooking, quilting and sewing when able. She was preceded in death by her four siblings.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Harmon “Boot” Davis of Jacksonville; son Warren Darrell Davis of Callahan; daughters Marilyn Raulerson (Delleanor) of Baxter and Melanie Faye Davis of Jacksonville; step children William Lesley Davis of Macclenny, Nettie Jean Strickland of Leesburg, FL and Maybell Fraser of Macclenny;  grandchildren Sherrie Dale Foresi, Anthony Warrenn Davis and Racheal Faye Elizabeth Davis, all of Jacksonville; three great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Doug Dugan, 50, dies in Illinois

Paul Douglas Dugan, 50, of Macclenny died August 10, 2012 at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia, IL. He was born in Vandalia on December 17, 1961 to Harold Roger Dugan and Janet Ann Maitland, and had been a resident of Macclenny for seven years after moving from Jacksonville. From a very young age

Doug was a hardworking, productive gentleman working three to four jobs at once. He was a graduate of Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville and was the pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania for 10 years. More recently he was a truck driver for SLT Trucking. He was an active member of Faith Baptist Church and an avid Tennessee Titan fan who enjoyed golfing, cycling, scuba diving, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
