Marvin Anderson, 69, of Sanderson

Marvin Edward Anderson,  69, of Sanderson died on November 6, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Bartow, Florida on August 7, 1943 to Ollie Mae Peace Anderson and the late James L. Anderson. He has been a resident of Sanderson since 1997 after moving from Ft. Lauderdale. He served his country proudly in the United States Marines and  enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his father James L. Anderson and daughter Kimberly Azate.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his mother,  of Delray Beach, FL; children Denise (Elliot) Cineron of Ft. Lauderdale, Neisa Anderson of GA, and Eddie Anderson of Ft. Lauderdale; brothers James (Marge) Anderson of Pembroke Pines, FL and Thomas J. (Jean) Anderson of Baxley, GA; sisters Jeanette (Jim) Hanes of Delray Beach and Linda Anderson of Fayetteville, NC;  grandchildren Naomi, Alexis, and Donovan.

A graveside service will be held Friday, November 9 at 11 am at Oak Grove Cemetery with Pastor Bob Christmas officiating. V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth Combs dies November 2

Elizabeth Anne Combs, 66, of Macclenny died on Friday, November 2 at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville following a long illness. She was born in Jacksonville and resided there until moving to Macclenny fourteen years ago.

Mrs. Combs was the daughter of the late John Joseph and Jette H. Slone Beatty Jr. She was preceded in death by stepson Windol Combs Jr.

She was a claims co-ordinator at Prudential Insurance Company in Jacksonville for 30 years until her retirement in 1995. Mrs. Combs was a Protestant and loved her family and grandchildren, animals and working in her garden.

Betty Jean Crews, was born in Glen

Betty Jean Jordan Crews, 82, died on October 30, 2012. She was born in Glen St. Mary, the daughter of Oliver and Sadie Jordan, and lived in Jacksonville most of her life. Mrs. Crews was a member of Cornerstone Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include her husband Rev. Willie Crews; sons Allen Crews (Mary), William L. Crews (June) and Daniel L. Crews (Vicki); eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a sister, Eva Jeanette Crews.

‘Weezey’ Gainey, 65, of Taylor dies

Louise “Weezey” Gainey, 65, of Taylor died on Friday, November 2, 2012 at her home. She was born in Lake City in 1947 to the late Eullie W. Richardson and Edith L. Taylor Richardson. Mrs. Gainey was a lifelong resident of Baker County and retired in 2011 from American Enterprise Bank in Macclenny. She was a member of the Taylor Church and enjoyed singing at church, collecting dolls and spending time with her friends and family. She was preceded in death by her son Kenneth M. “Mike” Gainey Sr.; brothers Edwin Richardson and Raymond Richardson; sisters  Shirley Smith, Voncille Richardson and Mary Louise Richardson.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Arvie M. “Chuck” Gainey and son Greg Gainey (Janice), both of Taylor;  brothers Melvin Richardson of Savannah and Marvin “Bud” Richardson (Vickie) of Cincinatti, OH; sisters Helen Byrd (Schell) of Glen St. Mary and Judy Crews (Buddy) of the Georgia Bend; grandchildren Kenneth M. Gainey Jr. and Gage Gainey of Taylor, Gabriel Johnson of Daytona, Tommy Walton (Casey) of Macclenny and Mandy Combs (Randy) of Atlanta; nine great-grandchildren.
