Rose Monte, 68, rites at N. Prong

Rose Pate Thompson-Monte, 68, of Jacksonville died Thursday, November 8, 2012 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center South  following an extended illness. She was born in Asheville, NC and resided in Jacksonville the past 40 years. She was preceded in death by parents Jack and Cora Lee Pate Edwards Creason. She was a homemaker and a very independent lady.

Mrs. Monte is survived by husband John S. Monte Jr. of Jacksonville; daughters Mary (Donald) Noles and Sharon Canady, both of Jacksonville, Sherry Lynn (Victor) Fitchie of Moniac, GA, Robin Mann of Jacksonville, Shanna (Alan) Secrest of Taylor; son Jerry Banks of Bakersville, NC; step-son, John S. Monte III of Glen St. Mary; sisters Della Tucker of Hendersonville, NC, Norma Jean Raines of Swananowa, NC, Wilma Lee Eady of Belton, SC and Lucille Canaday of Callahan; brothers Ronnie Fox of Walnut, NC and Michael Edwards of Henderson, NC; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

A graveside funeral service was held at 3 pm on November 11 at North Prong Cemetery with Rev. Micky Mixon of Jacksonville officiating. Guerry Funeral Home of Macclenny was in charge of arrangements.

Darlene Lauramore, 53, of Macclenny dies

Darlene Lauramore, 53, of Sanderson died on November 6, 2012 at the Morris Center for Caring in Jacksonville with family by her side. She was born in Macclenny on July 27, 1959 to the late Kenny Wilkerson and Evelyn Combs Wilkerson. Darlene was a lifelong resident of Baker County and a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church. She graduated from Baker County High School in 1977 and retired from Prudential Life Insurance as a claims adjuster after 21 years of dedicated service. She enjoyed writing poems and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sister Linda Crews, brother Ronald Wilkerson and granddaughter Emily Binion.

Funeral Friday for Luta Kilgo, 87

Alice Luta Poythress Kilgo, 87, of Macclenny died on November 11, 2012 at her residence with family by her side. She was born in Sumter County, AL on February 10, 1925 to the late Charles Poythress and Minnie Mitchell Poythress. Luta was raised in Baker County, and was the oldest continuous member of the  First United Methodist Church of Macclenny. She graduated from Emory University School of Nursing in 1947 and worked at Emory University Hospital until early 1956. After a career break to raise children she worked at Northeast Florida State Hospital and retired after many years of dedicated service.

Mrs. Kilgo enjoyed reading, sewing, playing cards and traveling. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Dr. Frank D. Kilgo and sisters Helen Vernon Brinson, Sarah Elizabeth Torode and Erin Moore Jones.

Rosa Jones, 68, of Crescent City

Rosa Lee Rollins Jones, 68, of Crescent City, FL and formerly of Baker County, died peacefully on November 4, 2012. She was born on February 7, 1944 in Homerville, GA to Elven and Mamie Rollins and was one of 19 children. She attended Clinch County, GA schools and became a migrant worker and a homemaker. She was a Baptist who believed in the Lord.

Mrs. Jones is survived by children Martha (Thomas) Arnold, Wallace (Lolita) Mims and Eric (Tekeila) Baber; step-children Johnny Emanuel, Delois Jones and Hazel (Bernard) Wilson; six grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers Evalena Rollins, Issac (Audrian) Tisdale, Martha Brown, Eddie Mae (Billy) Lee, Tommy (Paris), Julius, James, Wade, Ronnie (Nitra) Rollins, Caroline McCrary, Mary (Henry) Crosby, Michelle, Michael, J. Lee, Catherine Belford, Charlene (Terry) Kier and Johnny Rollins; many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
