Bebe Heffernan dies February 10

Bebe Marie Heffernan died on February 10, 2013. She was born in Adel, GA, raised in Miami and resided in Jacksonville for 44 years before moving to Macclenny in 1997. Bebe enjoyed a successful career in the food service industry and with her late husband Frank Schroeder managed food service at the old Jacksonville Railroad Station, Imeson Airport and Jacksonville International Airport. Frank died in 1976 and she continued managing three restaurants and a newsstand until her retirement in 1989.

Bebe was an avid golfer who passionately followed the sport even after her playing days were over. She also loved to travel and visited many foreign countries. Flying with her husband Thomas in their airplane was a particular delight for her. She was predeceased by her mother Marie Smith, father Thomas Hodges and stepbrother James Smith. She is survived by her husband; stepdaughters Bonnie Williams (Brian), their son Joshua, and Kristin Crawley (Marty) and their children Olivia and Mason. She is also survived by stepbrother James Pergola (Ginger) of Naples, Florida.

Phlou Hartley dies February 17

Phlou Hartley, 85, died on Sunday, February 17, 2013. She was born October 30, 1927 in Leon, WV to the late Homer and Oma Newell. Phlou had lived in Jacksonville since 1972 and was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother who will be dearly missed by all. She was predeceased by husband Richard Hartley Sr.

Survivors include son Richard Hartley Jr. (Pam) of Macclenny; brother Archer Newell of Ohio; sisters Anna Lee Craft and Opal Tullos, both of Jacksonville; grandchildren Melissa Elliott (Joshua) and Stacey Hartley; great-grandchild Harlow Elliott; numerous other relatives and friends.

Kevin Allaart, 28, of Woodbine

Kevin Lee (Little Kevin) Allaart Jr., 28, of Woodbine, GA died on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Shands Jacksonville. He was born on December 2, 1984 in Brunswick, GA and was a lifelong resident of Camden County, where he attended high school and graduated with honors in 2003. He also attended Coastal Georgia Community College and received a welding certification in 2005.

Mr. Allaart is survived by his wife of eight years, Emily Griffin Allaart; parents Kevin and Merry Allaart of Glen St. Mary; father-in-law and mother-in-law Michael and La Nita Griffin of Woodbine; sisters Tonya Hernandez (Robert) of Kingsland, Wendy Allaart Slater of Glen St. Mary and Mary Lawrence (James) of Woodbine; brother Michael R. Griffin (Michelle) of Kingsland; several nieces and nephews; his beloved four-legged friend Razz.

A memorial service was held on Sunday, February 10 at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys, GA.

Margie Westberry, 80, of Glen St. Mary

Margie Louise Westberry, 80, of Glen St. Mary died on February 7. She was a native of Live Oak and resided in Jacksonville before moving to Glen St. Mary 38 years ago. She was the daughter of the late Sam Buster and Catherine Cribbs Griffis and the widow of Clinton Westberry. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Sanderson. She enjoyed fishing at her lake place.

Mrs. Westberry is survived by  daughters Patsy (Wendell) Vinzant of Glen St. Mary, Freda (Lee) Harris of Keystone Heights and Margie Elaine (Tommy) Britt of Cave Creek, AZ; sisters Myrtle Johnson of Valdosta and Betty J. Howard of Glen St. Mary; brother Willie Griffis of Sanderson; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
