Virgie Brinson, 83, of Lake City

Virgie Croft Brinson, 83, of Lake City passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2013 following an extended illness. Mrs. Brinson was born in Baker County and lived in Columbia County since 1964 after moving there from Union County. Mrs. Brinson worked for 25-plus years for Aero (Timco) as a records clerk before retiring and in her spare time was an avid reader. She will always be remembered as a fantastic mother. Mrs. Brinson was a Baptist and was preceded in death by husband John L. Brinson, her father Johnnie Croft Sr., mothers Virgie Blitch Croft and Pearl Mikell Croft, and sister Anna Lou Baker.

Mrs. Brinson is survived by  sons John David Brinson of West Palm Beach and Michael S. Brinson of Dawsonville, Georgia; daughter Joan B. Allen of Lake City; brother Johnnie Croft Jr. of Olustee; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and other family members.

Karen Alexander dies January 16th

Karen D. Noblitt Alexander, 53, of Baker County, died on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 in Fort Lauderdale. She loved spending time at the beach in the sunshine and with her family and friends. Ms. Alexander is survived by sons Steve (Mandy) Noblitt of Glen St. Mary and Wayne (Adrianne) Noblitt of Abbeville, AL; daughters Christy (John) Rizer of Raiford, Angel Noblitt of Jacksonville and Ashlee (Jacob) Hodges of Sanderson; mother Joyce Wilson of Macclenny; sister Vicki (Marcus) Crosby; 15 grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at 1 pm on Monday, January 21 at Cornerstone Congregational Methodist Church in Macclenny with Pastor Mae White officiating. Forbes Funeral Home of Macclenny was in charge of arrangements.

Florence Burnsed, 71, of Moniac dies

Florence Rewis Burnsed, 71, of Moniac, Georgia died on January 9, 2013 at her residence. She was born in Hilliard, Florida on January 4, 1942 to the late E.D. Rewis and Stella Bradley Rewis. Florence was a resident of Moniac since 2004 after moving from Fernandina Beach. She was a loving mother and devoted wife who enjoyed rocking on her front porch chair, gardening and playing cards. Florence was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Willard “Wayne” Burnsed; brothers Broward, Clyde and Claude Rewis;  son-in-law Roger Altman; brother-in-law Earl Johns; and sisters-in-law Evelyn Raulerson and Ester Mae Yonn.

Mrs. Burnsed is survived by her loving children Donna Altman (Ray Bishop), Robert (Bonnie) McKenzie and Willard Enoch Burnsed, all of Fernandina Beach; brother Archie Rewis;  sisters Elizabeth Philman, Kathleen (Junior) Raulerson and Irma (Don) Sylvester; sister-in-law Ruth (Bill) Bates; brother-in-law Wade (Delores) Burnsed;  grandchildren David, Andrew, Kyle, Victoria, Tara, and Collin.

The funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 15 at 11 am at V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services chapel in Macclenny. Interment followed at North Prong Cemetery.

Hong Nguyen, 55, dies on January 11

Hong Trang Nguyen, 55, of Moniac, Georgia died on January 11, 2013 at Shands Jacksonville. She was born in Vietnam on December 30, 1957 to the late UT Van Trang and LE LE Trang. Hong was a member of St. Mary’s  Catholic Church and enjoyed praying the Rosary and spending time at church.

Hong is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Cac Nguyen of Moniac; daughters Jennifer and Dianna Nguyen; grandson Sean Nguyen-Holly.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, January 12 at 1 pm at her church with Father Slawek as celebrant. V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services of Macclenny was in charge of arrangements.
