Fugitives brought in on warrants

The sheriff’s office served about a half-dozen warrants and bond surrenders during the last week.

• Ransom Barefoot, 25, of Macclenny was arrested in the early morning hours of December 4 on a Desoto County warrant for failure to pay child support. Police originally responded to the Woodlawn Rd. residence where he was located just after 1 a.m. in reference to a disturbance involving Mr. Barefoot. Read More »

Woodmen give $2500 to local history groups

Modern Woodman representative Wyman Davis (left) of Glen St. Mary presented a symbolic $2500 check to the Baker County Historical Society’s David Richardson this week to help in the ongoing restoration of the historic Old Jail on McIver St. in Macclenny and benefit the history club at the high school.  Modern Woodman of America is a member-owned fraternal financial services organization that matches up to $2500 for community causes.
