Bus hub design nearly done; hunt still on for CoA senior center funding

Plans for the $2.1 million Council on Aging transportation center are nearly final and the county has applied for an environmental permit from the state due to the presence of wetlands on the proposed project site behind Winn-Dixie in Macclenny.

The grant-funded center has been in the works for more than three years, but County Manager C.J. Thompson says there is no deadline for expending the money.

Inmate count projection dropped for new BCDC budget

After revising down the number of inmates projected at the county jail for revenue budgeting purposes, the Baker Correctional Development Corporation’s board of directors on July 17 approved its $12.5 million budget for the coming fiscal year.
