‘Battle’ brews on Olustee memorial

Two of the three existing Confederate monuments near the site of a proposed Union monument at Olustee Battle Historic State Park. The nearest Union monument marks a mass grave, but is located outside the park’s boundaries.

As the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Olustee nears, another fight is brewing over a proposed monument to Union soldiers who lost their lives and ultimately the five-hour battle in west Baker County in 1864.
