Two Lake City motorists were killed last week and their 3-year-old grandson injured in a two-vehicle collision at the I-10 interchange with U.S. 90, a location known for serious wrecks.

A bystander who saw the accident, Edward Taylor, also of Lake City, said he removed the boy from the 2002 Ford Taurus involved in the crash.

Injured when bike rear-ends car on 90

A Macclenny man was injured seriously the evening of July 3 when his motorcycle struck the rear of a vehicle in front of him on US 90 in the east city.

Trooper Justin Smatt of the Florida Highway Patrol said it is not known why Lonzie Johns, 47, steered his 1995 Harley-Davidson into the back of a 2005 Acura driven by Genie Taylor, 17, of Macclenny about 6:25. Both were eastbound at the time just west of First St.

Lake City motorists dead, child injured in crash at US 90 interchange

Two Lake City motorists were killed today and a 3-year-old boy seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision at the I-10 interchange with U.S. 90, a location known for serious wrecks.

A bystander who saw the accident, Edward Taylor, also of Lake City, said he removed the boy, Bentley Bennett, from the 2002 Ford Taurus involved in the crash. The boy was flown to UF Health of Jacksonville, formerly Shands, by TraumaOne with a teddy bear in his arms.

The Ford’s driver, Richard Owen Ratliff, 60, and Anne Rykard Ratliff, 58, were dead at the scene. The Lake City Reporter editor Robert Bridges said Mrs. Ratliff worked for the newspaper as a contractor.
