Camp Tracey, a former church-run home and counseling center for troubled adolescents in the Cuyler area north of Glen St. Mary, will not be allowed to reopen as a residential treatment facility to help adult men kick their alcohol, drug and other addictions.
County commissioners unanimously killed the proposal after listening to more than a dozen people speak for and against it during a crowded public hearing that lasted more than 90 minutes the evening of April 15 at the county administration building in Macclenny.
“This is in my district and I consider this spot zoning in a largely residential area,” said Commissioner Adam Giddens. “It’s not compatible with the (county’s) comprehensive plan.” Read More »
