Oldcastle mining mediation underway this month, Jahna still pending

The Baker County Commission’s denial of a sand mining proposal from Oldcastle Southern Group last summer was appealed to an administrative judge with mediation to begin this month.

But more is at stake in the outcome of that case than whether Oldcastle Southern Group will one day mine course sand from the Trail Ridge formation in the southeastern county, or how high the county’s legal bills could get as its attorneys defend the commission’s decision.
