Now that summer is upon us in Baker County the familiar smells of grilling are permeating the air in the evenings and on weekends. However, cooking outdoors and serving food at a family picnic require that you take an extra measure of care to prevent foodborne illness and to have the best tasting grilled food for your table. Members of the Baker County Veterans Council posed for a photo with an 18-foot Four Winns cuddy cabin raffled off Saturday to John Higgs. Pictured above from left are Mr. O’Neill, John Joseph, Jim Palleschi (holding the winning ticket), Larry Porterfield and Dan Masterson.
“He was pretty surprised because he never wins anything,” said Milt O’Neil, the council’s commanding officer and a retired Navy veteran.
These three recent high school graduates and academic standouts recently were awarded the Rose of Sharon scholarships worth $500 each at the Emmanuel Church of God in Christ in Macclenny.
