Three Sanderson girls to compete for national pageant titles

Three girls from Sanderson will be competing for National Forestry Pageant crowns on August 31 in Tifton, GA.

Two of the youths, Whitley Mobley and Katie Register, won state forestry pageant titles on July 13 at Baker County High School and the third, Mallory Mobley, who is Whitley’s 14-year-old sister, is entering the national contest as an “at-large” contestent in the Teen Miss division.

Y director’s first foreign foray at Prague forum

Baker County YMCA executive director Ryder Leary (center left above) recently returned from a summit in Prague, the capitol of the Czech Republic, as one of 30 U.S. delegates at the YMCA Europe Festival Love 2 Live.

There some 5000 young people from across the globe gathered “to celebrate life, celebrate culture, celebrate diversity and celebrate all that is inspiring about being young in Europe and the wider world,” according to the event’s website.
