End of summer bash at library

A few dozen youths ventured to the Emily Taber library’s “End of Summer Party” the morning of July 30 to close the library’s summer youth program to encourage reading.

Children played games, painted pictures and rocked out to tunes like Who Let the Dogs Out as organizers handed out raffle prizes and cold drinks amid the 80-plus degree heat.

Summer grilling safety tips

Now that summer is upon us in Baker County the familiar smells of grilling are permeating the air in the evenings and on weekends. However, cooking outdoors and serving food at a family picnic require that you take an extra measure of care to prevent foodborne illness and to have the best tasting grilled food for your table. 18-foot cuddy cabin raffled off to aide veterans council causes
