‘Little Woman’ debuts at BCHS

Little Women, Louisa May Alcott’s classic story of a family of girls growing up in Civil War New England, takes the stage this weekend and runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 2 pm in the BCHS auditorium. It continues next weekend.

Macclenny lauds teen for saving grandmother

It’s not every day that the Macclenny City Commission gives official recognition to a hero, much less two in one night.
A teenage boy and a city firefighter both received awards during the monthly commission meeting on April 8 for life-saving actions in separate incidents in the city recently.
Dalton Alexander, 15, was credited with saving his grandmother’s life and possibly the lives of his parents and his 13-year-old sister in a house fire at 230 W. Michigan Ave. on the morning of March 23.
Fire Chief Buddy Dugger said the boy displayed “heroic actions” after he heard a noise coming from his grandmother’s room a few minutes after 7 am and went to see if she was alright. Read More »
