Cheerleaders raise money for ‘Donna’

Members of the Youth League Colts cheerleading squad (along with several players) manned a bake sale table the morning of October 3 at Memorial Stadium with the proceeds going to the Donna Foundation for breast cancer research.

They raised $300 for the foundation and sold out of everything within 30 minutes, cheerleading coach Brittany Johnson said in an email on Monday. Supervised by coach Johnson (back row, left) and several parents, the participants included Emily Pendleton, Bobbie Pedrick, Madison Beninati, Nevaeh Carter, Tristann Pendleton, Paiton Griffis, Dalton Griffis, Graci Norman, Destineigh NOrman and Taylor Raiford.

Annual strawberry, daffodil selling by master gardeners

Daffodil bulbs planted in October bring beautiful color to the yard during the dead of winter with blooms from January to March. Likewise, strawberries planted during fall produce tasty fruits starting late winter or early spring. The Baker County master gardeners are currently collecting orders for both daffodil bulbs and strawberry plants as part of their annual fall fund raiser.
