The Baker Prevention Coalition will have its monthly meeting at 4 p.m. on October 9. The nonprofit coalition works to reduce substance abuse, particularly among local youths. Chris Ralph of the Cannabinoid Institute is set to speak about Amendment 2, which would legalize medical marijuana in Florida.

Members of the Macclenny Fire Department, along with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, will kick off its annual Fill the Boot fundraising campaign to benefit children and adults affected by muscle disease throughout the Macclenny area on August 22. The drive will continue on the 23, and then happen again on August 29 and 30, all at the corner of 6th Street (121) and Macclenny Avenue (90).
